About The Good Souls
Traditionally, a 'bar band' were a group of musicians who wanted to play songs and experiment in front of a small, live crowd. Think of LA's Sunset Strip in the sixties. Artists like the Doors, Johnny Rivers, Flaco Jimenez, and Sam Cooke might all be playing small bars for a small ticket price.
However, somewhere, sometime, the term 'bar band' became a synonym for a Top 40 or classic rock cover band.
The Good Souls are reaching back to the past and are trying to resurrect the "bar band" to its historical roots. A group of guys having fun playing music with the high lonesome spirit of Hank Williams with Sid Vicious attitude, playing songs they love, as well as their own songs.
The Good Souls are honky-tonk punks in gypsy shoes playing post-modern rhythm and blues. Rock is dead. But, when people are having a good time and enjoying music, the spirit of The Good Souls is there.
